Sam is a conceptual sculptor working in a wide range of media, often re-purposed everyday materials, that directly respond to the concept and context of her subject matter.
Her work examines contemporary societal narratives that formulate everyday experience: investigating, documenting, drawing semiotic analogies to explore cultural meaning and interaction. These framed instances tell the story of the often unseen hegemonies that underpin the societal constructs and narrative.
Sam has a particular interest in the subtext of commoditisation and simulation and the impossible incongruities of the middle class idyll, often revealing a darkness beneath the surface.
A freelance curator and arts project manager, Sam is also the founder and director of the non-profit arts organisation Art Pop-Up www.artpopup.co.uk
